Each country of course has its own specific visa policies. Finding out about these rules is a top priority in searching for your retirement country. In a number of countries a modest social security or pension income can be used to financially qualify you for a long term visa. Also, some countries allow qualification based on bringing in a defined amount of money into their country. These are of interest to early retirees without pensions who aren't old enough to get social security.
