Not at all. Retired Americans abroad of all wealth levels, from rich to poor to in between, all face similar problems and issues. Some examples: US taxation, passports, voting, getting health care abroad, and obtaining long stay visas.
We would all love the choice of being able to retire anywhere in the world regardless of cost. However, the reality is most baby boomers are not saving enough for a comfortable retirement, either at home in America or in a higher cost foreign country. Therefore, the emphasis of RetireAway is on lower cost of living nations where Americans of even modest means can buy a decent level of retirement comfort. Of course, Americans who are retiring in higher cost countries like England, France, Italy, Australia, and New Zealand are more than welcome to participate!
