It depends on what country you move to and where in that country you move. It is an important consideration, because for most of us, the older we get, the harder it is to become fluent in foreign tongues.
Many American expats see a foreign language as a challenge and take the time and effort to learn it, though that is hardly always necessary.
If foreign languages intimidate you, you could choose to retire to an English speaking country. Some like Australia are obvious (though expensive) but some are less obvious, like Malaysia.
